Just bought 4.0 now 4.1 is out

We bought BES 4.0 on Feb 13th and at that point didn't know about 4.1. I guess I didn't do enough research. So, less than a month later 4.1 comes out and they want $1000 for an upgrade. We actually bought it through CDW and are trying to RMA it, but our Account Rep said she wasn't sure if it was going to fly. Has anybody had similar experiences? Is RIM at least a little bit forgiving in a situation like this?

most software companies usually grandfather you in, so long as you paid the actual costs, within a certain period of time prior to the release of the updated version.

Hi dheida, if I were you, I would install the more stable 4.0 first (remember to upgrade to latest service pack as this usually patches a lot of known issues experienced by existing customers). If you are not an early adopter, I would suggest that you do not install and use 4.1 first. I can bet that service pack 1 for 4.1 would be out within a short period of time since its release last week ;)
