loose escape key?

Just a question to check with the experts so that I don;t worry. I just noticed my escape key on my new 8700c can slide up and down, meaning it seems loose. Is this normal or do I have a friggin bad unit already? I can slide it up and slide it down (only slightly as there isn't a ton of give) but still I wonder how that will hold up over time.
