There are a couple of BB signatures, other than your name etc., that I have seen. One is "Sent via Cingular Xpress Mail with Blackberry", another is "Sent by my Blackberry Wireless Handheld". I'm sure there are other BB signatures that you have come up with or have seen that promotes the use of a Blackberry. Please share.

Mine changes every few months. Currently it is:
"My Blackberry doesn't type
any better than I do..."

Also:
"Sent by Carrier Pigeon."

Mine is "Sent wirelessly from my Blackberry handheld. (Please pardon the brevity and possible typos.)"

However, the best one I have seen is from one of our IT guys

"Typed up on a 'berry,
So sorry for the typos.
Thumb typing can be scary,
But better than typing by nose."

I have two.

I have the standard auto sig on my Gmail account, and then for work I created an autotext on my 8700 that contains the same sig as my one from Exchange, that populates when I type "*sigw" into an e-mail.

I was going to try something like:
“Sent to you at 80Mph.”

But I found many people frown upon typing while driving. :-o However, I find it much easier to be typing than reading.

I don't like people knowing I'm replying from a mobile device... I've heard stories about people expecting an immediate reply when they know you're on a BlackBerry. :-/

So, I changed mine to one that fits my personality:
"So long and thanks for all the fish. ^_^"

Those that are familiar with Douglas Adams' comedy masterpiece The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy will get the joke. Everyone else will be scratching their heads wondering why I'd say such an odd thing. ;-)

90% of the people that I correspond with have a BB and so I don't think there's as much 'stigma' associated with that. Being on the run is part of the job description of a lot of people these days.

I actually read a tip on here some time ago that I have adopted. I have abandoned the BIS signature system and instead use Autotext. That way I can have one signature for personal, another for work and none for friends that I am emailing constantly.

It's very simply. For example, typing 'brpps', ends an email with:
Best regards,
Paul
(followed by my Personal Signature which has a separation line, my full name, cell number and email address).

Typing 'brpss' does the same but gives my work signature. (My company's name begins with an S...)

Typing 'brp' just gives my sign-off but no signature.

It takes a few minutes to set up but it is simplicity to use once you have.

I use autotext signatures as well. I don't like my signatures to indicate whether or not I'm emailing from my Blackberry. In fact, I'll also make sure that Outlook always sends in plain text format just to help make sure that no one knows where my email is coming from.

It's easy to figure out if it's sent via Blackberry or Desktop if you use Outlook and you use HTML or RTF formatted e-mails. At least the way we have it set up (are there other ways of doing it?), all BB e-mails are seen in a monospaced font while Outlook desktop e-mails are in Arial.

Depends on if you're BIS or BES.

Your Desktop Manager has a place to remove the auto sig, and if you log into/use BIS, there's a place there, as well.

johnfromphilly
05-23-2006, 01:34 PM
On Cingular BIS you can change sig by going to the Cingular blackberry webclient and clicking on Options. There is a auto signature area.

I agree with some here, I use the same sig as my outlook, I dont need them knowing I am Mobile. Now if they figure it out with the font, then good for them, that means they are technical, and are now jealous..

Good one. I have 2 different auto text signatures. One for business and one for friends and family. My last sig used to say Sent Wirelessly via BlackBerry from Cingular, soon to be AT&T Wireless again. Felt pretty silly after they nixed the idea of changing the Cingular name, or did they?
