Just bought the 7290 a few days ago and I love it... I'm addicted. Tmobile is coming out with the 8700 next week... should I just exchange and get that? Note, I am not using this for a phone (though I may in the future) - I am using it for data only.

Also - anyone know what color the 8700 for tmobile will be coming out in?

lastly, when i try to bring up the mytomobile website from the browser, it wont work (says can not load on blackberry). anyone else have that problem?

thanks is advance

The 8700 has a much much better screen than the 7290. In bright sunlight outside it's tougher to read, but that's the only downside. The 8700 also has a speakerphone, programmable convenience keys (one button right to calendar, browser, etc. from any app), and the "regular" phone keys (send and end). Since you're not using it as a phone right now, the speakerphone and send/end keys might not do too much for you.

The 8700 has more RAM, a faster processor, and a better looking user interface. I don't recall if the 7290 can do themes, but there are a number of them available on the 8700.

The only thing the 7200 series definitely beats the 8700 on is the feel and heft of the device. The 7200s don't feel too light or fragile, but the 8700 feels a little more toy-like, even though it's actually not at all.

I'm not sure what exactly mytomobile is all about, but if it's like the old tzones, it probably won't work on a BB.

Strictly data? Absolutely. Data on the 8700 is like a day at the spa. Data on the 7290, like a one lane highway during rush hour

Yes, so simple. See the reasons in my tips doc.

I have had an 8700 for the past week. It's a whole new generation of Blackberry to the previous model. Does everything well, including phone, data and of course email and browsing. It's fast and easy to read, with a sharp, clear display that automatically adjusts to your ambient light. Also has connect and disconnect buttom like a cell phone. Here in Australia, the one I have has a dark blue case. Great little tool!
