Seems to be a LOT of different prices out there!

I paid $199 and had to add Blackberry service ($19) to my existing account. Previously I had paid $49 to add a 7290 to my existing voice line. Neither was a "new activation" and in both cases they shipped overnight for free.

I wish I had Cingular, I'd have ordered the "free after rebate" 8700c from Amazon!

According to my rep (and what I read here) this is the corporate price and not available through dealers, though I see some online agents are already down to $99 a/r.

What prices are you seeing for BB 8700g?

What's the LOWEST price out there?

I paid $199
Any details on where? When posting prices a link or phone number would be helpful for sure.

The "free after rebate" is quickly negated by the $45 for the Cingular Blackberry data plan -- especially if you can work with TMO's BIS-only add-on.

So you renewed for 2 years right?

So you renewed for 2 years right?

No - it's very odd. No contract extension was required, only a 12-month agreement on the $19 Blackberry internet add-on. I believe this is offered to large enterprise contracts only. The odd part is that when I call customer service they say I can drop the Blackberry internet as it's just a "feature" not part of a contract.

Anyone else at an enterprise Tmo client?

Better than I paid for sure but that's with a new line of service an new contract. Great deal for new users though!

So I think you DID renew for an additional 12 months. But it's nice that you can get the $200 pricing point for only 12 months, from the pricing that jibi got, $199 (AR) was for 2 year renewals.

UShopWireless (or Venicom Wireless) has this weird provision about having to deal with all your service requests, etc etc, through their own company for the length of the contract, or face being charged with the price of the full device (this was for my 7100t). I found it to be quite bizarre at first...but then, we created a new family plan and my account was "absorbed" into that plan. No more BS dealing w/ Venicom.

Actually I couldn't have gotten a nee contract because right before I ordered the new BB I renewed my contract through retentions and got a free month (199) so I actually got the BB for free.

My first posting!

Here's my pricing experience today:

Called T-Mobile, told them my 7100t is having problems (it is) and I wanted to upgrade to an 8700g. My contract runs through mid December 2006. Offered $399-$50 for 2 years, no one year option.

Told the rep I could cancel my T-Mobile service, pay the $200 termination fee, and get an 8700c from Cingular free.

They offered $349 - $50 for two years, $399 - $50 for one year.

Told them my wife will be looking for a new phone this summer, and really wished they could do more for me.

Transferred to a Retention Specialist.

Offered $249.99 with a two year contract. Told him the same cancel, pay $200, get Cingular story as I told the first rep. He then offered me $199.99 (plus tax) and free shipping.

My new 8700g should be here in a few days! (y)

Important note: I had 8 months remaining on my contract, my new 2 year contract starts today so I actually only extended by 16 months!

It's not bad that they didn't tack on the 24 on top of your 8.

I confirmed with them that the 24 starts today... made it easier to swallow a long contract!

I got mine today for $399 - $50 for a 1 year extension (make that 8 month extension) in a t-mo store in DC. I was going to buy it outright or 1 year extension.... Guy said he couldn't do 1 year, I pulled out my wallet and said I'd buy it outright or take a 1 year...

Apparently they CAN still do 1 year extension and that seems to give them a better commission than selling me the 8700g at "retail"

They sold it to me for $399 - $50 rebate (which I expect I'll never fill out and send in) with 1 year ext. So.... $399 for 1 year, they can still do them.

Went into a t-mobile store, showed them the Amazon & USshopwire deals, told him I need 2 for my wife & I. Negotiated a sweetheart deal.
$149.00 - $50.00 rebate= $99.00 NET!
No actavation fee!
I walked out a happy camper!

I was wondering what pricing corporate users (those of us with the Enterprise plans) are getting on the hardware upgrade to 8700g units.

I haven't been asking for much (at least I thought so) but the best upgrade price with a 1 year contract extension I've been offered is $299. We have 19 lines total on our account and they are all month to month with 15 of them being Blackberries. Even offering to extend contracts on everything a year wasn't enough. To get a $199/unit price I'd have to do 2 year contracts.

Kinda frustrating that they aren't willing to do more for multiline customers. Plus, I'm under pressure from many people to switch to Cingular.

If anyone has any suggestions or knows how to bend them to my will, let me know

Thanks,
Vidkid

I also picked up a BB 8700g from T-mobile on Tuesday. Unfortunately, I didn' think I could haggle it down since the device was so new to T-Mobile. I paid $399 + tax and a $50 MIR. I made them aware that I was not interested in a two year contract. The price with a two year contract would have been $349 with a $50 MIR.

Being and Asst Manager for Tmob, the whole 1yr thing is kinda tricky if you havent had your acct or gotten a discount for more than a yr 1yr is an option. 2yr may be more attractive cause of the bigger discount. if you've had a phone or contract for less than 6 months our pos system may not allow or give us the option to offer you a 1 yr renewal. Either way commision is the same on the equipment now on the renewal it is slightly higher if you do a 2 yr renewal.

if you want to take in deals from other authorized dealers and your willing to do a 2 yr contract they will match most offers with something in print in hand. Now the exception as im told is we are not supposed to price match amazon or any other online dealer. hope this helps

Why is that? Don't on-line and retail stores pay the same thing and get the same commission?

I ordered mine over the phone. I told T-Mobile that I was not happy with my 7290, was within the 14 day exchange period and that my two year contract ended that day (it did). I told them that I was switching to Cingular to get the 8700c and asked them if they had any Blackberry products newer than the 7290. They started out at $419 and I told them that I was going to switch to Cingular because they were selling the phone for under $200. They went from $299 to $249. Then, when I still said that I was just going to go with Cingular, they dropped it to $199 with no activation fee. It looks like some folks got it cheaper but that was a good enough deal for me since I was willing to pay up to $350 for it.

Since the online orders for renewal are waiting on a long backorder, I asked T-Mobile CS why I couldn't just pick up the unit at a company retail location:

The reason why you can not go to a local T-Mobile store is due to if you make the purchase through our customer care department, online or through us what we do is provide you with the service of sending the handset directly to our door. Door delivery is one of the great services that T-Mobile offers their customers for their convenience.

Apparently it is in my best interest to wait three weeks, but I'll get it delivered to me!
