texting on the BB

how does this actually work. because when people sends me a text i dont get it. i'm i suppose to text threw email

You may do this in a few ways.

a) go into your messages, click wheel, "compose SMS". then you can select a recipient from your address book, or put in a one-time phone #

b) you may go into your address book from the home screen, click wheel on the contact, and choose to "compose SMS" from there.

while they recieve it as a text? or sms? because some people have free text. but sms

You have a 7510 from Nextel, right? There are hundreds on threads on Nextel texting. I know you've had a lot of questions here. Have you searched first?
