Hi everybody.

this is my story.

About 2 weeks ago i called tmo to upgrade my handheld (BB 7290) to a new 8700.

I was offered to pay 350 , but after calling back (having read the forum) i was able to get them down to 179.99 including free shipping.
only catch: i had to wait until may 3rd , when my contract would be up for renewal...or better.... a month away from it( weird, i know)

the account specialist assured me that by the time i would call back, all the info about the transaction/offer would be noted in my account.

I called back 2 days ago and nothing...
No notes anywhere.
They said that they can't honor the price because there's no proof anybody offered me that deal, and that the best they can do is 199 plus shipping.

I tried to talk to a superior too...
I know 20 bucks is not the end of the world, but it think it's not fair that i was quoted another amount and then i have to pay more.

I am debationg also because of the fact that the 8700 seems backordered, and was wondering if it'd be possible for me to go to a store and get the same deal, in the LA area.

thanks in advance for your help and time,

If you're looking for advice, here's mine: Bite the bullet and pay the extra $20. Is it really worth it to spend unknown time, gasoline and aggravation to save a measly $20?

And this wasn't a totally wasted experience. Whenever I get quoted something like this (like a recent dispute I had with my ISP) I always take down the agent's name/department/number. Not really a bad lesson for $20.

Enjoy your 8700g.

$199 is a great price, the best I've seen someone get on a renewal (I got the same). I ordered on 4/24 and it came yesterday, delayed by backorder. So far I've gotten little else done today besides getting my new 8700g all set up and tweaked!

thanks for the advice.

I agree, but unfirtunately their shipping times are too long for me right now...i am leaving for 2 months in a couple of weeks.
The account specialist couldnt guarantee me it would ship in time...

So i am looking to find a store who's willing to honor the offer...no luck so far.

I agree. Not worth the hassle. All the carriers have issues, and the lesson should be learned. Go download my tips doc and have fun.
