APN issues - O2 UK

I am with O2 UK, and I can't use any of the cool internet connection apps (for SSH, MSN, etc.) because the connections always fail.

No APN settings were originally set, so I put them in:

APN: wap.o2.co.uk
Username: o2wap
Password: password

These are details I found via this site. I don't know what else to do.

have found a solution? i entered the same settings on my BB and still having trouble connecting to google talk.

Is a general GPRS APN anabled on an O2 SIM by default? Maybe BB SIMs come with only the BB APN enabled at the SIM level...
