I have a 7100T blackberry that has a rotating hour glass. This has been going on for hours. I've removed/replaced the battery, which did not fix the problem. I also tried connecting it to the desktop manager but can not activate any of the commands (application loader, etc.).
Help!!!

Ive had a few do this before. You pretty much have done everything you can to get it back. 1 other thing you can try is to take the battery out and hold down the power button for 20 seconds. Limited success with this.

Unfortunately, this did not work.

my advice would be to wipe the OS completely off the BB and load it again. Instructions can be found here: http://www.blackberryforums.com/showthread.php?t=34486&highlight=usb+wipe

edit: looking back at your post, i saw that you were unable to connect to the DM at all, so I hope you backup your BB regularly or are on BES because you will lose all your data unless you have it backed up

yes you could use the "javaloader.exe -usb wipe" command if you have the exe file. this will erase everything off the BB and you will have to reload the firmware.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm in the process of wiping/reloading & will let you know the results afterwards.
Keep your fingers crossed. :-)

What is the reasoning for holding down the power button for 20 seconds??? Tech support told me to do this as well and did not explain what it does... Doesn't removing the battery do the same thing???

Holding down the power button gets rid of any residual charge. Same thing on a pc.

Ok... That explains it... Thank you!!!

It sounds goofy i know, i usualy tell users to jump on one foot as well. but like steve said you still have a charge on it and opening that connection allows that to flow out. Dropping it in water will do the same ha

Thanks again for all of your immediate replies to help me on this issue. This site is one of the very best I've found in my technical support arena.

Okay, without further adieu, the fix was to reinstall the O/S without choosing the option to "backup the device". It appears to have been a corrupted bberry service I guess.

why don't people try tech support for their carrier first?
