I have and 8700c and can not use data and phone at some time. My friend has 8700g (tmobile) and can. Anyone know if I should be able to do this on cingular? I did a search but could not find an answer.

Thanks!!!

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8700g: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

T-Mo can't do data and phone at the same time either.

My friend is right next to me on his speaker phone and using googletalk as I write this. And I was just as confused but it seems to work and I was hoping that I could do that too.

if it does...that's a fluke
it shouldn't

BlackBerry's are like dial-up - only voice OR data at one time

Not possible... If he is doing it, its a one in a billion BB and he needs to ebay it because RIM will probably buy it for big bucks to evaluate how's its doing it.

Not possible on Edge 10.

When the 3G/UMTS or HSDPA are launched in blackberry form, this will be possible.

And T-Mobile doesn't have 3G/UMTS. So, what is happening is that the phone is working, and the messenger is saving the packets. It is not actually sending data back and forth. It can't be.

Google Talk may be using text messages and not data. You CAN text while talking.

No google talk uses data. I have no way to explain it but his blackberry is working with data while he is using speakerphone. He can even browse the internet. Oh well thanks for all the help.

I agree! The rest of the BB world and RIM is gonna want that device!
