Seems like a good way to go is via a Jabber capable client, even if I'm only using the MSN service?

Seems also that the Google BB client is considered good. Can I instead use the Yahoo client for the BB to do this?

Are either (Google or Yahoo) clients actually RIM's, and which should be better (most functional and stable) for chatting with MSN users (via Jabber)?

Not sure if you can use this Jabber process with Yahoo or not...

However, both the Yahoo and Google Talk clients are produced with RIM. They're fully integrated into the RIM OS, and are very stable.

For those that have tried both - is the UI basically the same?

Google Talk with your MSN added through a jabber account like PSI or Miranda is really good.
I haven't had any problems, works extremely well.

I agree - Verichat is a great program. Can be a little slow sometimes, but overall is solid.

Did it with Google Talk client in the end. Seems to work very well...
