Hey there,

I'm new to this forum and just purchased a 7100g (w/cingular). I was told that in order to setup my email I would have to setup a BlackBerry data plan (which is expensive!!). I wanted to know if this was true, or if they're trying to sell me on something.

I also have seen 7100g with icons for the list of options on the home screen. How would I have my phone do that????

Thanks for your help guys!!

Yes, you have to get the data plan. Otherwise you will not get to use the email or web functions. Also, did you see the icons in several rows and columns on the home screen, or aligned up on the right side only? If in rows/columns then that is standard and available by simply choosing one of those list themes in your options menu. If on the right side only, then that is the Zen theme, available only from a new OS download available in this forum.

in the options menu, when i select themes it just says "Default (list) (active)".

everything is listed in columns, I would like to have icons in place of this. Is that possible??

.... Is that possible??

Yes --- I've only downloaded themes OTA, so can't advise on installing anyother way, but search the forum as there is good deal of info on themes, etc.

How do you get themes OTA?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7100/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

How do you get themes OTA?

On the handset, go to options, then themes, and select menu option to download themes. Alternately, point handset browser to the BB extras site and go to themes.

P.S. You'll need the new OS.

How would I go about getting the new OS?? Is there any cost to it?

Just follow the thread in the Blackberry FAQs button above every page and look for OS upgrades. Download it is free.
