Found unlocking solution for 8700g. Fake?

Hello,

I just received a T-Mobile BlackBerry 8700g as a present and would like to have it unlocked and use it on the Rogers network. I have searched this forum and others and have found no unlocking solution for the T-Mobile version. However, I did find somebody on eBay selling the service for $30. Is it a scam? So far there is no unlocking for the 8700g.

My cousin got me the phone. I know he is not a T-Mobile customer. Assuming that he bought the phone at a T-Mobile outlet at retail price, would they give him the unlocking code?

Usually people call their service provider (Tmobile) and tell them that they will be traveling outside of the US and need to use the phone with a pre-paid SIM. Tmobile should give you the unlock code after that.
