i know when you unlock an 8700c you need the cingular sim card in the BB or you can not get to the screen to enter the code.

Is this also true for an 8700 G?

I have a friend in Europe who bought an 8700G here hoping to use it on t-mobile there but it wont work and now i have the unlcok code for him but i want to know if it will work with out a t-mobile usa sim card in the BB.

I know we can wait and see but i would rather know ahead of time.

No.

I just unlocked mine this morning.

E-mail t-mo customer service and they'll e-mail you back with the information they need if you meet their "requirements" (not sure what these are).

Then they e-mail you the unlock code and how to unlock your phone.

He already has the unlock code. He wants to know if he can complete the process without a SIM card in the phone.

he needed me to fedex him a t-mobile sim it would not work with out it

Don't bother. They don't have an unlocker for 8700g yet. I just went there and looked
