Hello
I am a Treo 650 owner looking at maybe switching to the BB 8700

My company has a portable e mail client that will run on the 8700C and the 8700R.

Can someone tell me the difference in these models.
I am a current Cingular customer and my 650 has been unlocked. I would also like to unlock the BB for times I have to go to Japan for work

Any info on is appreciated

i thought the only real difference was the network and the carrier

8700c = Cingular (US)
8700r = Rogers (Canada)
both run on the Edge network

Thanks for the info
Now I have to figure out how to get one from Cingular ( my current carrier) without increasing the national debt.

also, is there a way to unlock the phone so I can travel overseas and use the phone with a local purchase GSM card?
Thanks

Just call cingular and tell them you are going over seas and they should give you the unlock code.

And the 8700 will not work in Japan at all. The upcoming, unreleased 8707 should work in Japan. Later this year. Maybe.

It is just my luck that Japan is the place I would have to travel to

Yeah I thought it was just a carrier difference but I think it's more. I think they have similar but different casing because vajacases.com told me the 8700c case does not fit the 8700g phone. Also I hear the 8700c has a more solid keyboard?
