For some reason I cant reconfigure the side button on the left or indeed the centre convenience key to quickly access the address book. it just wont list it.

Any ideas why?

Is there another shortcut for quickly accessing the addressbook?

If you have dial from home turned off pressing "a" will take you to your address book.

The "A" key. But you have to turn off dial from home screen feature. If you do thi, then many shortcuts become available to you. A = address book, L = calendar, M = messages, etc. Check out this document to learn more: http://home.comcast.net/~tamsterra/Blackberry_8700c_Model_Tips.pdf

They speak the truth. But what you have noted is also true: Address is not available for the convenience keys and while I would not personally want to use them for that, I have yet to hear a good explanation why.

Everything from Bharti onwards has removed the Address option.

I too, am also curious why the Address Book is excluded as a choice for the convenience keys? Calendar, Messages, Tasks, etc. are all available. Looks like a bug/oversight to me.

Listen to wise man Seattle. Why would anyone use Dial from Home Screen, give up all the shortcuts, when you can hold the green send button for the dial feature. Learn the shortcuts and have time for an extra pint at the end of the day.
