Kind of interesting. Optional Hardware drivers on Windows Update.

Current Driver is dated 7/5/2005 and at version 1.4.0.12.

Yeah, blame Microsoft.

Anyhow, the new versions is as follows:

Driver Provider: Research In Motion
Driver Date: 4/6/2006
Driver Vesion: 2.0.0.7

I'm not sure if this is compatible with Vista, but its worth a try. Someone may want to give it a whirl.

Seams to be a little faster under 2003, unless its just th time of day that my perception of time is out. Ill try under vista when i get a chance to reboot

What you want to do is go to the Windows Update Catalog (http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/catalog/en/default.asp) - http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/catalog/en/default.asp. Click on Find driver updates for hardware devices, and then Other Hardware. Then select:

Manufacturer: Research In Motion
Select your OS...
Select your Language...
All Posted Dates

and click [Search]. This will come up with "Research In Motion usb software update released on July 05 2005.". Add it to your download basket, and follow the rest of the directions.
If you chose WinXP Pro SP1 as your OS, the driver files will be in:
{DownloadDir}\WU\Driver\en\com_microsoft_whql.other hardware\x86WinXP\com_microsoft_whql.10748926\10748926.cab which should be able to be extracted with WinXP's built in "Compressed Folder" utility or any other file compression utility (WinZip, WinRar, etc.).

I've noticed no different at all (besides the version bump) - is there a changelog?
