The 7280 and 7290 are really different BBs. You can see a comparison of the two on BlackBerry.Com - here are some differences:

7290: Quad band GPRS; 7280: Tri band
7290: Bluetooth; 7280: no BT
7290: 32MB RAM; 7280: 16MB
7290 has two stage backlighting; 7280 does not

Both have color screens - not acive matrix.

Personally, there is no comparison. The 7290 is far superior to the 7280.

Screen is basically the same.

One thing I dont like is when Im on my headset (wired) and im also trying to do other things on my phone...I can really notice some lagging..like it maxing out the "processor" I was wondering if the 7290 was faster in that respect. Whats the difference between tri band and quad band? Also I heard with the 7290 I can use the 4.1 OS...is it that much better than the 4.0?

The 8700 uses a newer Intel processor (and has 64MB) and is the only BB I've used that has no lag. I don't think te 7290 is significantl faster than the 7280.

You can put 4.1 on any 32MB device. It runs fine on the 7290. There are several threads on the differences.

Awsome...I appreciate you attention to my question. One more thing...Is it worth (in your opinion) 100.00 to go from a 7280 to a 7290...take into consideration I can get a 8700c for 299.00 off ebay. I will end up trying to sell my 7280 for around 50.00 (do you think that is a fair price?)

Also, since you seem to be pretty knowledgable, How come when I sync my 7280 to my PC it say I have like 2.5M free (on a fresh install no addresses). Isnt this a 16mb device? Am I reading this wrong? And I see specs like 16mb memory and 4mb rom, Or something to that nature. I was under the impression that rom would be like where the OS gets saved to being that it read only memory, and you cant have read write access. I dont know im rambling. I again appreciate your dilligence in my ignorance :)
