On my outlook at work I have a couple of email lists set up. All my contacts are synced on my outlook and BB. My question is how do I, or how can I, use one of those lists on my BB when I'm not at my laptop?

Distribution lists do not sync over to the BlackBerry. You can use distribution lists, but you have to create them on the BlackBerry itself. This is a limitation of the technology at the moment.
