Hi,

Just ordered an 8700g, but I am in an area with no EDGE coverage. Will my emails still come through on regular GPRS or am I hosed?

Yes, as long as you have GPRS or EDGE you will get your email.

And if has to be all-caps EDGE. Sometimes I get lower-case edge, and then no data.

Your web browser just won't be as fast. Everything else is just as the others have told you previously. Enjoy your 8700g.

Whew. That's what I had assumed, but wasn't sure. Emails are the priority for me. Web browsing will probably serve me more when travelling - in areas that do have EDGE.

It's odd. T-mobile just put up a bunch of brand new Towers here in Eastern WA. I'm surprised they don't have EDGE. It's especially surprising because they share some towers with clearwire, a wireless internet service, so they must have the backbone there for EDGE.
