Hey everyone, does anyone have this model (I think Nextel is the only carrier that has this particular phone, its the one I have) But yeah.... Do you all like or dislike this phone? So far I like it. Also if you post you like it, then explain why, and if you dont like it explain why as well.

I like mine, except I wish the keyboard was a good as the older BB's.
I like the shape and feel, it works great for my email at work.

Dislikes:
changes back to main menu when someone DC's me.
Will not play .wav files.

I had the 7100t for over two years until I just upgraded to the 8700g. I loved the 7100t, its best advantage is its size, more like a phone than a blackberry.

I also am really good at typing on the compressed keyboard and never had a problem with it, with the exception of some words that got mixed up because of the common keys (hey -> get, if -> i'd, etc). You'll hate using the 7100 outside in direct sunlight, but I also round that most times there was a shady spot around--the backlit screen is the biggest drawback to the 7100.

Good luck, enjoy.

Well I just got mine not too long ago. I use to have an i870 and I can tell you that I like the 7100i much much better. Besides the fact that I can not play wav or mp3 ring tones. I have no complaints. Now I actually use my phone. It has replaced my ipaq and cell phone. I could not imagine not having it. After adding Telenav I love it even more!! Telenav just rocks on it!

I love my 7100i. I had the 7250 with verizon and the 7520 with Nextel. I like the screen on the 7100i much better. The keyboard does take some getting use to. It's a great device.

i have the phone but i really only have one dislike:

chirping someone from the address book is not easy, you either have to alert them first or copy+paste their DC number into the dialer then pushing the PTT button. coming from a i930 this is a pain because on my 930 i just highlight the name either from call log or contact list and just pushing the PTT button works.

for instance, say someone called me but later i want to chirp them, i cant just go to the call log and highlight their name and push the PTT, i have to alert them first or do that copy&paste thing as i said above..

compared to the 930 it takes more time to chirp someone.. not a bid deal but i really miss having quick access to chirping someone with less steps.

I never have an issue "Chirping" someone from the address bookor the call log. Just highlight the name, & press PTT. I almost never alert anyone, as it's considered bad Nextel etiquette to alert without chirping first.

I agree with lord_jefe, I have never had an issue chirping someone from my Address Book or Recent call log, I just highlight there name and press the PTT button and BOOM there ya go.... Never heard of anyone having to copy and paste a DC number or anything like that, sounds like someone is doing something the hardway to me.

yes i agree, i hate when people alert me without chirping me first.. but many don't do it because i tell them chirp first.

anyway, the highlight does work (just tested it), i dunno why but i remember trying that and it wouldn't chirp.. must of been a glitch.

Me three, never had an issue from the Address book or call log.

I always alert people. That way I know they got it.

It's better then somebody chirping me and scremeing "ARE YOU THERE!!!!?!!?!?!"

My little brother always does that along with all my friends. It's horrible when i'm showing a $400k house and someone starts screaming out of nowhere.

I agree with Linenoise. No problems with chirping from call log. I also alert before chirping. You never know when someone is busy or in the middle of something important.

I've owned a Razor from Cingular, i870, i530, i860, i850, and a i930 from Nextel.

I have had the 7100i for about a week, and it blows the above phones away.

The way we do it at my company is simple. Chirp someone. If they don't answer, chirp again. If they still don't answer, and it's important, alert.

In 5 months with the 7100i, I've been alerted twice. Both times it was annoying as heck, as the phone wasn't on me, and it keeps getting louder until you answer.

I love my 7100I as a BB, but still hate Nextel coverage. Since we implemented BB units, I have had both the 7510 and 7520 - the 7100I blows them away. I agree that SureType takes some getting used to - it took me a day to get used to. I hope that the 7100 series units from our next service provider (God I hope this happens soon) are as good.

I agree, but I just alert someone the first time and then I know they got it and if they don't answer then I know they're busy. It beats waiting and keep chirping them.

I think the only thing I dislike about this phone, is it's unforgiving for fat fingers. It's too compressed, but i'm getting used to it.

After upgrading to the 7100i from the 7520 I have to admit that its the best BB out there, and the suretext is a breeze to use. I wish it would do video and MP3 ring tones and removable memory. Other than that it can't be beat! I even upgraded my fiance's i860 to a 7100i as well.

Heres my take on the 7100i.
Love this BB. One of the best on the market..awesome apps...minus the awful antenna! Heres a tip....it was constantly digging into my side, getting pushed into my car seat when i sat down,(I'm on the road alot) and on top of it all, it looks bad.(not to sound completely superficial) but it takes away from the total package. So i cut it off at the base....and it works perfectly fine. Still gets all reception, 3-4 bars at all times, all DC comes through crystal clear..does not affect the email or web browser at all..I wonder whats the point of that ridiculous antenna anyways.

Man I couldnt agree with you more about the Nextel/Sprint coverage. It downright blows in some areas.
Other than the coverage the 7100i is an excellent phone. You definately have to get used to the sure type. It can create some very creative words i must say lol

There is a reason for the attena. Sometimes I don't have good service with the attena down and when I pull it up it seems to give me a couple more bars.

I love my 7100i, the antenna (a waste). Often i wonder if they placed it there for nothing other than a way to hold onto it with your thumb and finger?

Thinking of going to another blackberry. I do a lot of outdoor events and I would like post stuff from the events. But I can't get a 100% you can use blackberry ________ as a tethered modem with a mac.

only complaints I have are ones I knew about going into it. Web is slow, would like video, camera, mp3's and such.

it has been a good phone.

i really like my 7100i. I have had just about all the other small handheld Nextels you can think of. My only dislike is the ring tones. I came from a i930 and i was always keeping up with music and i made 30 sec. ringtones and i loved having the songs for ring tones...it actually to the point almost angers me but i deal with it till something changes with it.

The size, its a bit big compared to my other phones but considering all it does compared to the others i accept it. I only use my belt clip for work and then it goes in to my pocket. Sometimes its a big bigger than i like but thats the wraps.

I'll post a pic as soon as I can. But it now looks like a 7100g. A lot better, and like I said, I'm in the North East, so my reception has not been affected at all....I might lose a bar or two in cerain areas, but that's it. I'm headed to Las Vegas in a couple of weeks, and I'll touch base and let you know how it works down there, but Vegas is a big NEXTEL hotspot, for anyone who didnt know, so I doubt it will be a problem.

I love my 7100i but like everyone else I would love more ringtone options.

And about the coverage. A Sprint employee I recently met while on a golf trip mentioned that the service will be getting MUCH better around Sept/Oct. He didnt provide details but I am praying he wasn't just blowing smoke.

from my experience

positives

the DC response is quicker then previous nextels.. I just push the PTT.. no lag...

TeleNAV looks way way better then the ones for the MOTO phones...

negative

no wav or mp3 ringtones.. but i don't really care

need more third party software for the phone.. i keep searching for something good to feed my phone. 8-)

Likes: Everything about it basically.

Dislikes: no real tones, the antenna is highly annoying, the time that it takes you back to the home screen after short pause on DC

Is there a way to make the time longer that it takes when you DC somebody before it takes you out to the main screen? I mean it's anoyying, expecially if they don't DC you right back then you have to back into your recent calls and DC them again... Its rather a big annoynce that I have ran upon... other then the volume of the ringer and actual headset not being loud, BUT I did find however that the phone will go louder when you are talking to someone even if your volume is all the way up just press the track wheel down and bring it all the way back up to full volume again you should notice a difference in loudness.... I only wish it would stay that loud, You can exspecially notice a difference in doing the above while on speaker phone, The phone goes that loud so why won't it stay that loud!?

Lets get a round of applause for this one

i HATE it when people alert me and my things going off for a while if im not around .. chirp first .. w/ not speaking .. if your sent back to HOME Screen quickly .. that means the person is busy .. but if it lingers .. chirp again .. then alert.

as for the 7100i .. i have no problems at all. Only things i can point out for a new user is to immediately download Gtalk, Opera mini, and Google Maps. Also to re-arrange your screen (holding down ALT or DOUBLE ARROWS while clicking the scroll wheel on the icon) is key to optimize your phone.

the ringtone situation does suck .. but seriously .. i don't even use it like that .. i still use the old school RINGER_Classicphone lol ringtone.
