I have a question regarding the T-Mobile BB 8700. I am a T-Mobile customer and have two lines. I am eligible to purchase two BB 8700s at a discounted price. My question is, is the T-Mobile 8700 locked to the T-Mobile network? I'm thinking of using the other 8700 to give to a family member as a gift, but the thing is he is on the Cingular network. Is the phone locked and if so, is it possible to get it unlocked to where a Cingular customer can use it? Sorry if its a stupid question. All and any help is appreaciated.

If you pay full price T-Mobile will unlock it with no problems. Also if you have been with T-Mobile for a while (> 6-8 months) they will also unlock it for you. Just tell them you will be using the phone in Europe for a summer vacation and would like to use a prepaid card while overseas. You will want to call T-Mobile customer service to get this done. Good luck.

You don't need to pay to have a T-Mobile US BB unlocked.
Call Customer Care. Normally you must be in good standing with them for a certain period of time (like 6 months) and they will unlock it for free.

Amazon has a deal for a Cingular 8700c for $50 with a new service (i.e. new cell number). Go to:
Amazon.com: BlackBerry 8700c Phone (Cingular): Cell Phones & Service (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C1DOU0/sr=8-1/qid=1154264829/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-1428541-1386428?ie=UTF8)
or just search 8700c on Amazon's site.

Then you don't have to unlock it, but you don't get a black 8700 either.
