SMS on Blackberry

I have a 6280 (and Cingular) and learned how to use SMS a couple of weeks ago when I was out of town. It worked fine. I am now home and tried to send SMS a few times over the last 24 hours and every message is quickly rejected with a big red X and a 'failed to send message-packet error'. I went to the Blackberry site and it said to change the network to GPRS, which I have done, still doesn't work. It also talks about the 'number of bits', but I don't seem to have that option. I have the following options, most of which I've tried both ways, still no love.

Here are my options:

Leave message on SIM card - yes
Delivery reports - on
Validity period - 3 days
Send as - text
number of previous items - 7
Service center - +19703769301
Netword to send over - GPRS
Cell broadcasting service-on

How can I make this work?

Try going to Options > Host Routing Table > Register Now. Then take the battery out for 30 seconds.
