Phone insurance is a waste of money. It takes forever to get a replacement. The replacement is usually some junky refurb model that will give you problems down the road.

Not really. Depending who you have, most service providers have insurance under $5.00 per month.

It does not take forever to get a replacement. The most you have to wait is 48 hours.

Depending who you have, they probably will end up giving you a new one. Even if it is refurbish, it's been fixed with very good results.

Wirelessly posted (Cingular 7130c: BlackBerry7130/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

You can add your phone to your homeowners insurance.

I was on the phone today with cingular insurance dept. They said my 7130c is considered a high end phone and therefore was not eligible for insurance. Its because its a new model and many times Cingular will look at these later to determine if it can qualify for insurance. For example, the Razor is more expensive than BB 7130c and you can get insurance for the Razor but not the 7130c. I was told to contact safeware.com. I have heard they are very good and the insurance is excellent, with the one exception that they do not offer replacement if you loose the phone or if the phone has mechanical problems. Otherwise, all other accidents, including theft, is included. I was quoted on a value of $250 @<hidden> $30 year and there is no deductible.

Good luck!

Safeware.com is the option that has been suggested to me for the Blackberry. I have yet to check it out, but after my phone took a swim, I'm going to check it out. I don't think I want a cell phone claimed on my homeowner's insurance.

Just looked at them today. They quote $52.00 for $770.00 in coverage.

At TMO it's a couple of dollars per month.

That is the reason I jumped the Cingular ship and came over to T-Mobile. I don't know why Cingular is the only carrier that doesn't insure pda/blackberry devices. I looked into safeware.com... they seemed to be decent; I insured my 8700c with them when I still had cingular, although I never did have to file a claim. Now that I have tmobile and insurance from them directly, I can relax and know that my investment is safe.

T-Mobile has taken a lot of bashing in my area, Northern VA, but after purchasing my blackberry yesterday, i am impressed at how much their coverage and service has improved.

I'll give it more time though; I still use verizon for my voice calls.

But not to get off topic... check out safeware.com
