View Full Version : Keeping messages on Handset, not BIS

Hi All,

I have a Blackberry 8700 which I love <hugs it again> and a BIS (1.8).

I'm sure this is simple, but I need to check. I tend to get large emails often (with images) around 10 to 15mb, so my 50mb BIS inbox can fill up. When I delete all the messages in my BIS, they wipe off my handset. I'd like to keep them on my handset for up to 30 days as it is useful to be able to search them when I am out of the office...

What's the simplest way of doing that?

Thanks,

Steve

Wirelessly posted (Cingular 7130c: BlackBerry7130/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

Not sure if that's possible. You could forward them to a gmail address and never really have to worry about deleting them. Although 10mb files would full up the memory on your blackberry fairly quickly.

I only have the headers on the handset, so I'm not too concerned about memory size.

I'm surprised though if there isn't an option to be able to keep messages on the handset longer than the BIS. Is there no reconcile option I can turn off or something? Hmm...

yes - disable "permenant delete" from your BIS site
this will stop wireless reconciling from happening

keep in mind this will also mean when you delete an email from your handheld it won't delete from the BIS inbox either

or you could just upgrade to BIS 2.1 and not have to worry about clearing your BIS inbox since there wouldn't be one ;)

Great, thanks. And I'd love to update to 2.1. Just tell me when Vodafone UK have upgraded!

well i heard O2 did recently so i would assume sooner rather then later for Vodafone - but don't quote me on that one ;)
