8700c/Cingular BB Unlimited & Network Problems

Hi all. I am having weird network problems. I have a new BB 8700c with the unlimited data plan. I have no problem connecting to any web pages with the included browser. I can connect to AOL via ramble and google talk via google with no problem. I installed google maps and it tells me there is no data connection available. I am having the same problem with opera mini. There are no restrictions from my BES. I have tried implicitly setting permissions to allow to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do from here?

To get Opera and other such apps to work, I had to go into options and check the box for "Disable MDS Proxy" That fixed the problems.
