Yes. Instead of clicking compose SMS you would click compose MMS.

Do you have an MMS plan on your account. And yes Cingular supports MMS on the 8700.

I have to believe you are mistaken. I work for Cingular. The 8700c does support MMS. You just have to have an MMS feature on your account.

Interesting since if you search "Cingular MMS" you find a LOT of threads with people who are unable to use MMS on their 8700c BlackBerrys. It works on the 7130c, according to many, many threads, but not the 8700c.

If I'm wrong then I apologize. According to Cingular university it is capable. Its possible that it could be wrong as well, i've never actually tried it with an 8700.

I would definitely check with your tech support folks and get this clarified.

Its my understanding that the 8700 series is capable of sending & receiving MMS; however, Cingular has decided not to allow this feature.

MMS capability is INSTALLED through the net_rim_bb_mms.cod file. It is enabled through a service book from the carrier. If MMS is not defined on your account, then you will not have the ability (it is enabled by default through T-Mobile). If Cingular has this as an option-only service, then that may be the key as to why it's not working for anyone. A newly-wiped 8700g on T-Mobile will NOT have MMS enabled for any of the options, although the minute you register on the network and start pulling down service books, it will then be enabled.

Technically speaking, everyone on this thread *COULD* be correct. It is common knowledge that Cingular does not have MMS enabled on the 8700c (not to say that the capability isn't installed, because it is); however, if the add-on MMS plan is enabled, are we sure that Cingular doesn't send out the MMS service book? It seems more like a provisioning issue rather than the impossibility of it. Someone may want to check with someone technical at Cingular to see which it is - are they not set up with MMS service book capability, or are they simply denying all MMS capabilities (the latter shouldn't be the case). If its the first one, then someone needs to light a fire under their arses and have the provisioning set up correctly...

There is absolutely no way to send/receive MMS messages with the 8700c with Cingular. There are a couple threads regarding this on the Cingular Forums. One of the justifications given is due to a billing error. The only luck I've had with receiving "MMS" messages is an email linking me to viewmymessage.com with an id and password. Needless to say, this is extremely frustrating and had I known that it was not an option, I probably would not have purchased the phone. Oh well, there's always the next gen's

All you have to do on O2 UK is send a MMS first, even send one to yourself. That sets the thing up and you'll be up and running.

No doubt that Cingular remains less hip than TM and they just don't care about some of the consumer features on the BB. They do have a larger network since they have both GSM spectrums. TM relies on roaming agreements. Pick your poison depending on your needs.

Yeah, on the Cingular forums now the viewmymessage.com site isn't working...red xes for your images. The tech on the chat live links say it can be large image sizes....but at 76k and 28k I find that hard to believe....sucks since the 8700c has the ability to see MMS but cingular just wont get the damn thing together.

As far as I know is that it is a charge issue that has to do some thing between RIM and Cingular.
