I'm used to sms'ing on a cell phone.

Will suretype be faster than double tapping once I get the hang of it?

Assuming you use standard English, yes. If you use text shorthand, multi-tap will be easier.

I use standard english, to me it seems long words are faster, but less than 5 letter words are slower.

Does suretype alter its beavior as you go?

Yes, the more you use your device the more it will 'learn' the words you use the most and offer those as the first suggestion when you're typing. You can also add text messaging 'lingo' to your Custom Wordlist if you want to get it to learn faster.

I'll agree that SureType is much better than double-tap. It takes a little getting used to, but it 'learns' quickly.
