Just don't leave that one on the bus. Of course, you are probaly not ridding the bus much with a Gold Blackberry. (y)

It doesn't look like solid gold. The case looks too perfect. I think it's more like gold plated.

If the case is really is solid gold than he did an excellent job at it.

You'll need to make sure you have medical insurance for the heart attack you'll have after your first scratch.

Haaa, already quite a few scratches, and the case is SOLID gold, it isn't plated, you can't gold plate cheap plastic...it would melt smartass

Not true. Plating any type of plastic with gold is quite easy. You just need a special primer that makes the surface conductive, then you can electroplate it just like you would metal. You are probably confusing gold plating with a "filled gold" finish, where molten gold is pressure applied to a metal base. That would melt plastic. However, plating plastic is quite a common technique used on a lot of auto detail parts.

Metal deposition

anything can be gold/silver/platinum plated, not actually plated but any type of metal can be put on anything. It would require a vacuum chamber and a few electrodes and would not be cheap but it can be done!

Maybe Platinum will be the next BIG DEAL!!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/149)

Or how about diamond encrusted BB?

True Puff Daddy style!!!

I just wish if I had that... On second thoughts would be too worried about the surface of the phone (IT's GOLD) than using it effectively. BB is no-nonsense.

But hey does'nt take anything away from the face-melting work done on the phone. Am I stunned or what..!!

Got you, you guys might be right, but this is definitely NOT plated as it weighs about 2.5lbs

I wasn't arguing that, it wouldn't be hard for a jeweler to cast the casing out of solid gold. I was just pointing out that if you liked that look, you could do it for a fraction of the cost, and without turning the device into a heavy brick. Of course it would still probably be bad for your reception, since you would basically be building a Faraday cage around your device.

$35,000, weighs 2.5 lbs and has lousy phone reception (if any.) Ah yes, proof that its possible to be rich without being smart, and there will always be a few people around with a LOT more money than brains!
