I haven't changed anything that I know of, but today I tried to browse and got an error. Up where it normally says "Cingular" it now says "Data Conntection Refused".

When I try to browse I get an error that says: Unable to open a PDP context to the follwoing APN:
blackberry.net
This may be happening because the currently selected Browser configuration is not compatible with the current network.

I was trying to go to http://bb.magmic.com

Hmmm. Looks like GPRS is down. I'm getting the same thing in the Boston area. Started about an hour ago.

update: Just checked over at Howardforums. Looks like a nationwide outage.

If you look to the left of the signal Strength (on a 7290) you'll see gprs instead of GPRS...not usually a good sign.

Just checked our company help desk site and it seems that there are several outages around the tri-state area. I remember I had the same issue about a week ago. Have you fellas tried removing/replacing battery?

Cingular was down here in NYC for about 30 minutes. All back up and running now here in the big city...

West cost (Washington State) was down as well. Was it just Cingular?

A few people in our company use Cingular (90% or more are with T-Mobile) and a coworker reported that she had been getting the Data Connection Refused error here in Houston.

Well mine came back online about 45 minutes after I first posted. I thought I had screwed something up but I guess it wasn't me afterall.

Thanks

I had the same problem here in Nebraska. Short lived, though.

Hmmm..... I was down too for about an hour. Customer Service is CLUELESS. They didn't even know there was an outage until I asked them to check.

New to this place but I'm addicted to my 7520 blackberry already after a week. My bro is playing around with an old 6230 with T-Mobile using 3.7 and he's still getting Data Connection Refused. I can't even make a call from it! it says Emergency Calls Only! Is this thing a lemon? NOTE: Mines working fine but his isn't... he has Voice Service, T-Zones and Hotspot on his account but no blackberry service yet he wants to mess with it 1st before jumping on the wagon with the rest of us addicts.

T-Mobile is being pretty cagey on this considering there's NOTHING on their website about this and it's been affecting everyone I know for days. A buddy of mind just forwarded the following announcement to me.

*** Please don't reply. This is just a notificaiton ***

EFFECTIVE DATE: 3/7/05 OUTAGE TYPE: BlackBerry, Data,

MARKET AFFECTED: NEW ENGLAND MARKET

CUSTOMER IMPACT: T-Mobile customers in the Boston MA market are experiencing problems connecting to GPRS on data devices and mobile phones. Data devices are getting various errors: ex. blackberrys getting gsm only or lower case GPRS as well as data connection refused.

ETR: none

I'm getting that on Nextel's network. I called earlier to Cuctomer Care. Only after talking with them for 3 hours did they mention anything about on outage in the Midwest USA. Are there any other carrier's experiencing these type of problems?

I talked to our data specialist at Cingular and he said something that just blew me away as to why this outage occurred. He said that the Gateway was accidentally powered off. HOW THE HELL DO YOU ACCIDENTALLY POWER OFF THE GATEWAY!!!!

I read in an article in EWeek on Friday that raised questions as to if Cingular was really ready for Data and should they put it on hold. I know that this article doesn't address the CrackBerry's, but it's still DATA. See below:

I just got a 7520 and I haven't had any issues (knock on wood) in terms of outages. I just activated a customer with one and its kinda taking a while for everything to push thru with his... hopefully it goes thru for him... WTH? T-Mobile has an outage! I agree How the hell do you "accidentally" turn something off? sheesh!
