My A and alt key are almost flush with the shell of the blackberry. They still work but barley and it's annoying. Here is my question If I get a new one should I take the new software of it, or will that matter. Also if I back everything up will it install the new software automatically when I hook it up to the desktop manager? I hate getting a new one then i have to get all my codes for the programs that I have. Any suggestions?

If you do a backup with Desktop Manager you can restore your settings and data to the new device. I don't belive it will back up any 3rd party apps or codes/settings for 3rd part apps - just what comes with the device OS.

Will the new OS I have install automatically or do I have to reinstall the software I have on it? Should I remove the new OS and put the old back on?

If you're getting a new device it should have the latest OS on it. If not, you can download and install the latest from your carriers website.

Os has to be installed and it may not back up some applications.
The backup will copy everything but as stated above, fully only on the original load.

I always try to keep a copy of all added applications and avoid over the air loading.

good luck

Caution!!!
Only follow these steps if you are confidant that your mechanical and electrical skills are good enough to perform them!! Opening the case to your BB will void the warrenty!!

If you have the proper tools, open the case and check to make sure the keys/keypad is seated in the case properly. If not, then your reinstall issues are solved. If they are, then make sure the çase is not damaged, and send back to your carrier.

Let me know how it goes.

Backup saves more than the OS. Saves data if the app is configured that wat.
