Just wondering - why would you want a non US 3G device, without EDGE, running on Cingular?

I use the 8707v roaming on Cingular (but not a Cingular account).

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

Can you access the Internet on Cingular? If so, is it decent? I assume it's GPRS only?

Just landed in Australia and picked up a 8707v. I put in my Cingular sim, unlocked the BB, went on the BB website and switched handhelds. After about 30 minutes all the settings on the Vodaphone 8707v were changed to Cing and started to receive e-mails and the browser's worked. I'm going to Japan in a couple of days and hoping it will work there with the Cing sim. I'll update in a few....(y)

Not to mention the slower MSM6500 chipset....

Yes, for sure it's not as fast as the 8700v but....for those that travel to Japan and other 3g countries, most of which don't support EDGE. The 3g is pretty fast. Just have to manually connect to 3g instead of the auto mode.
