Ok - with desktop 4.2 on the RIM site, what do I do with the actual Blackberry 8700C device software? I get some things that say my device OS is incompatible yada yada because that's at 4.1.

I searched and didn't find anything conclusive - I was hoping someone could post a reply for us 8700C users that want to use desktop 4.2 and the latest OS software.

Thanks in advance!

Dan

At the moment 4.2 does not exist for the 8700c.

I thought if software worked on one 8700 it would work on all.
I upgraded my device to get the zen theme and the OS on it right now is not the latest OS from Cingular but it works. I was assuming this would be true also for 4.2.

Thanks for the info!

Correct. IF there was a 4.2 version out for the 8700 on any carrier, it would work on a Cingular version with a little tweaking.

However, no such 4.2 upgrade exists yet.

So I will assume that this means no media transfers and such until this gets updated?

Correct. There may not be media capability even WHEN there's an update. There's no way to tell at this point.

that all depends on the hardware capabilities of the 8700c, i dont see much changes when the 8700c goes to 4.2 except for a shit-ton of new questions
