I just got the 8700. I am new to the BB devices. I have been hearign about free software that enables you to use AOL AIM or whatever to IM others and not get any SMS "Text" charges. Where do I go? THNX!

So I went to that link and read it and from what I'm understanding is you can't instant message without getting charged for SMS text.

Can anyone guide me?

Simply don't use the Tmo client. Use Verichat, IM+, Ramble...one of them that uses data. Tmo's uses SMS.

Dude, you've been here for a while. Try searching. You have to configure your APN settings.

And yes, Ramble and Verichat use data, not SMS. Cingular doesn't have a proprietary IM client.

yes you are correct. i am using cingular with the 29.99 unlimted plan and i am using ramble to chat with friends on aol and i do not get charged for any sms. but make sure the IM foward is not on on your aol because then your going to start getting im's that are text messages in your mail folder. so turn off im foward and just keep your ramble or what ever program on
