I'll assume you are referring to the 7130c, which does indeed support MP3 ringtones. Email yourself the following link. Open the message upon reception and highlight the link. Click the trackwheel and select Get Link. After it loads and starts playing, scroll to the rightmost button and click the trackwheel. You should have an option to save the file and to save it as the default ringtone. Save the file, opting to set it as your default if you so choose. Manage (set, play, delete) your ringtones in Profiles. That said, try this relatively loud bugle call† on for size:

†In 1999, the FMA Alumni Website, then under the management of The RDS Company and now AtHome Web Designs (http://www.athomewebdesigns.net/), was granted specific permission to publish these bugle calls in their entirety for educational use by the original copyright owner under the Fair Use Act. You may download and save these bugle calls for your own personal use; however, they may not be used for commercial purposes. Please contact the FMA Webmaster, stating your intentions if you wish to use these samples on your Website along with a link to your site or proposed web page. The FMA Webmaster has been notified of the posting of this bugle call, which has been converted to MP3 by the GNU Lesser General Public License (http://www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl.html) LAME 3.98 alpha encoder.

Note that there are legal ramifications for posting copyrighted material unless provisioned for appropriately.

use this file as a sample. take your own mp3 and chop it down to a reasonable size (you won't be able to play an entire song in the time it takes your voicemail to pick up), and recompress it using the same settings as the sample.

Easily said, but how exactly so we do this? Is there a free MP3 editor out there somewhere (I'm broke after buying my 8700c and won't be doing this very often)? Only setting I saw was the 48kHz and the 64kpbs...anything else important? Size for example?
