View Full Version : 7290 doesnt support messenger?

Hello, all

Im trying to put blackberry messenger on my 7290. I go to this website h t t p://www .blackberry .com /messenger/ on my 7290 and it says "Your device is not supported at this time.. I did a search and i thought i saw some people saying messenger 7290 worked. Im confused. if it does work how can i get it on there if i cant even install it over the web.

i'm with cingular and I have it. I'm not sure why you can't get it.

i didn't think Cingular supported (or allowed) IM programs....

You might have to download it to your pc and put it on your Blackberry with the Application Loader, part of the Desktop Software.

I'm not sure if I remember, but I don't think it allowed me to install it until I upgraded my OS to >4.0. I am running a 7290 with Cingular (and it says that Cingular does not support the messenger) and it runs just fine.

i didn't think Cingular supported (or allowed) IM programs....
"Don't support" and "doesn't work" are two entirely separate things.

Cingular doesn't officialy support Messenger AFAIK but it works fine -- just as it does on any other GSM Blackberry. You should be able to do an OTA install but you might need OS 4.0 or better, as mentioned.
