Is there anything out there that will enable me to backup my downloaded BB programs like google map, the games i've downloaded onto my 8700g? My background pictures on the blackberry also needs backing up but i can't SMS it to my email address or to anybody.

I am surprised the most simple solution to backup images is to sms, but it doesn't work.

I belive that when you use the desktop manager to back up your blackberry it backs all of that up.

When you do a full backup, it doesn't save your 3rd party apps, but it does save your pictures.

With DM 4.2, I believe it will include anything you've loaded that's third party as well, and when OS 4.2 comes out for the 8700, you'll be able to transfer media back and forth from you PC (pictures and ringtones).

I lost my pictures! I do a full backup every week but when I upgrade the BB software I lost all my pics.

Where did you say they were when you backup?

I too have confirmed that the new Desktop Manager v4.2 SP1 (official version lingo = v4.2.1.8 Jan 16th, 2007) *does* indeed backup pictures you have stored in the picture viewing application, except for those with a "padlock" icon on them. (what does this mean anyway? how do we "lock" a pic??)

Backing up "Content Store" did NOT backup any of the pre-loaded background wallpaper pics (ie: Orbital, Clouds, etc) as all of these had the "padlock" icon on them.

Not that it matters much, but just a head's up.
