How to delete multiple messages?

Sorry about the newb question but I come from the Treo/PocketPc world. I have the BB pretty much figured out.

I was playing with my scroll wheel and keys and found that I could high light multiple messages for delete and cannot figure out how to do it again.

I searched but could not find anyting.

hold the shift key while using the trackwheel to select the messages then press the delete key

You can also highlight a particluar date, press the scroll wheel, and select Delete Prior. When you do this, nothing is synchronized back to your email application. Deletions only take place on the BlackBerry itself.
