BB 7290 shuts down power by itself several times a day

Is there a fix for this?

I sounds like it could be a hardware problem. A lot of Kyocera models have that same problem. Some contacts inside the phone could be loose, maybe between the battery and the motherboard, momentarily loosing power and shutting off. Kind of like pulling out the battery.

Support at RIM claimed that third party apps can cause that. I don't recall if we ever verified if this was true or not as it sounds like tech support boilerplate to me... We were attempting to troubleshoot a 7290 that had Stockboss installed on it that was mysteriously turning itself off.

We've seen this on quite a few 7290's. This would happen for a few days, then horizontal lines will start to appear on the screen, so it won't be usuable even when it is on. Probably time for a new BlackBerry........
