I know its not possible to download the Yahoo application to Blackberrys on Cingulars network. But isnt possible to add a yahoo mail account under bis.na.blackberry.com, which is Cingular's Blackberry interface? I have seen references to it being done on this forum. Any help? I am able to add my hotmail acct.

From everything I've seen you need the yahoo pop mail service. You need a yahoo paid email account to get pop service from yahoo. Do a search and you'll find plenty of threads.

How did you get it to work? I have an 8700c and use a BES, but I also have added the Cingular Blackberry E Mail account

Strange, it is working. I was able to add my Yahoo account this morning.

I wonder why there's still no support for Y! Messenger?

Yeah, not really a big deal. He's a loser Jets fan. He'll never understand the Raiders - Chiefs rivalry.

u should thank me since no one know about this.

Well, hey, at least you're arrogant.

While this may be a work-around, there's not support yet for the actual Yahoo Messenger client on Cingular.

Browser Y messenger is pretty lame IMO. Not really "instant". Kinda tastes like the oatmeal is undercooked.

Yes, it will. Cingular upgraded their BIS to support free Yahoo accounts.

Well, you can make RIM's Y!M work on Cingular's network, but figuring out the sneaking-around method of getting the appropriate Y!M service book onto your device can take some looking-into; I've taken the liberty of getting some info and instructions together, check 'em out right here:

It works on T-Mobile as well. I have the older, basic Yahoo mail account, not the premium/paid for account. I still can't get the settings to pop my mail to my laptop at home, but my Blackberry 8100 is getting my Yahoo mail. I got the congratulations message on my Blackberry saying it's done and that in 20 minutes or so I could expect to get my mail. My test message came through almost immediately, no delay whatsoever.

Yeah, as of Sunday, 9/24/06, Cingular's BIS 2.x services are now enabling integration with Yahoo! personal accounts, no Plus subscription needed. It should be a fairly seamless integration, but in case it's not, check out the Cingular tutorials site/knowledgebase for more information.

As for BIS 1.8 customers using BlackBerry Connect devices, it may not work without that Y!+ account. I'll try to look into it on my end, but if anyone can confirm/deny that, throw some knowledge this way. =)
