Software on an Unlocked BB

Hey everyone! I searched for this but didn't really find anything. My friend from over sees has is moving to the States for a few months... maybe longer. He has an 8700v and just got it unlocked but it appears to still have all the settings and such for Vodafone. He wants to activate it on T-Mobile; how to we make sure that it will have everything needed for the complete and same fuctionality as if he were to purchase an 8700g? Right now, he doesn't have the IM app T-Mobile loads, and a few other things that are supposed to come on it like themes. Any thoughts?

Unlocking is a first step. If he really wants the TMO IM app and so on, load the OS for the 8700g from TMO. It won't change the carrier splash screen that comes up when it's first powered up but that can't be changed on any Blackberry.
