Phone Number Search from Phone List

On my 7250 (Verizon) I was able to go to "Phone" and if i was trackwheeled to the phone list, not the dialing area, I was able to type the name of the person I wanted to call. On my 8703e I am no longer able to do this, instead it dials a number from anywhere in the phone list, rather than searching by name. I tried all the options and cant figure it out. Any insight? Thanks.

When you get to the phone app hold down the phone key (send key) which will pull up your address book. Search for your contact and dial.
