I miss the old ringtones from the 7250. Is there any way to get those ringers onto the 8703e????

Haha am I the only one who wants my old ringtones back? Is there a way to transfer them over via the Desktop Manager?

would be nice to do a backup then reload when you upgrade or replace a BB

The ringtones on a 7250 are part of the OS. Backing up and restoring will not bring them over.

anyone know of websites that have these old ringtones available for download (or similar standard ringtones?) These seem to be impossible to find.

I would certainly like some information on proper MP3 ringtone encoding for good results. I chopped a 30 second clip of one of my favorite tunes and encoded it into a MP3. Then I spent 3 hours trying to download the attachment from my Gmail account (hint: In the general browser options, select IE Emulation, and check all of the checkboxes on the bottom). After all of that effort, the song was unrecognizable when being played on the 8703e (note: the mp3 sounds fine when played on a PC).

Any tips/hints/suggestions?

Edit: I just found a thread on this forum discussing proper encoding:

(3 more posts and I will be able to post URL's! Woohoo!)

Edit #2: I've tried the method above (using Audacity) and it works GREAT. I just created 2 GD ringers and 1 SKB :D

FYI... Here's a link to a 30 second clip of Steve Kimock's Tounge & Groove Jam which I have converted to a ringtone:

Thanks for the tips and links, I also used Audacity and then realized that all my previous .mp3 ringtones, from my LG VX6000, were already edited so I just hosted them online and used the BB Browser to "Get Link" and then saved them. That was easy. I'll edit more mp3s and assign them to different people so they all have unique ringtones, well the important people anyway.

Has anyone figured this out yet? I really miss the old standard BB ringtones. Now I can't even tell that my phone is ringing due to the corny ringtones that they have included!
