I know there are many out there who dislike, and even hate the LED coverage indicator. For me, it's great, I like not having to remove the BB form the holster to see what's going on. My question is this: Is there any way of modifying the frequency of this LEDs flash to make it flash every 3 seconds or so? I'll try anything!

Not.

I have a hard time believing this is impossible. Everything is controlled by code on BBs.

Please help me understand how the LED coverage indicator is useful? I mean, I've got coverage 24/7...? I guess it's for people who do not?

I don't like it because it will show coverage in edge as well as EDGE and my users can't seem to grasp that they can't send and receive email when they have edge!!!

The only reason it's useful to me is not for the coverage indicator part of it, but for the new message status part of it. I find it helpful to glance at it and see if I have new messages, without having to remove from the cradle.

Huh? You can have a new message indicator - the red light - without having that annoying network indicator green light. (Can you guess my feelings about that) :-)

My light is never on. I only see it blink red if I have a message or blue if I am using bluetooth. Is there a way to activate this?

Options > Screen/Keyboard > LED Coverage Indicator > Change Option to ON

Okay, I'll clarify. I suppose I was referring to something unrelated. Forget the coverage indicator. I want the light to not only flash red for 5 minutes, but I want it to stay full-on red until the message is read.

That is not possible under the current configuration of the code.

Yes, this is possible. Turn the coverage indicator off. Then go to the profile you want the message indicator on, to messages (or the related email) and change "Repeat Notification" to "LED Flashing"

Speaking of the coverage indicator... This was a nice feature back in the day when Ericsson introduced on its first cell phones. My first Ericsson 688 (in 1996) had a coverage indicator and it was useful at the time as we did not have much coverage then.

Old days, i had more hair then...

It will still only flash red for a few minutes and then no led.

I have not heard of anyone getting the LED to change what RIM has programed it to do.

I, myself, would like my BB to blink red or do something to tell me I have missed a call or have an email even if it was 5 hours ago.

That's exactly what my issue is, I don't care how long ago I received the message or missed the call, I want it to flash red until I open the message.
