I've got a Verizon 8703. When I'm looking at my SMS messages, I see all my text messages and every time I've been notified that I have a voicemail.
Since I'm only "allowed" 100 Text Messages/month, are those voicemail notices going to count toward my limit?
8703!

i dont think that it is a text message, i think it is just a notification, if you go to just messages all of the emails/texts/notifications are all in one mailbox.. so i think it is just combined into one view. if you click alt-s you can see your SMS messages alone though..
if the message is from Verizon or Cingular they don't count has a text message just a system notification. If the message is from a system other than the carriers, they count

If you turn it off, then how would you be notified that you have a voicemail?

I guess you can move to a carrier or market that properly uses the MWI instead of sending voicemail notification via SMS...

Thanks for the responses, dudes.

I think you'd still get a flashing "1 Missed Call" alert. AND you'd see that little voicemail icon. Really, the message in your inbox is just overkill.
