im very new to the balckberry (in fact, dont even have it yet), but will have something by the end of the month. does the 8703e have any aim capatability? also, it seems that people have lots of troubles with their email - is it truly difficult to set up, or is it pretty easy/non-hassle?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8703e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

8703e has aim capabilities through third party software such as ramble, yak-on, and verichat. If you do a search you will see it has been discussed frequently. I personally use yak-on and love it.

As for email, it was not hard at all. Took me three minutes to set up a pop account, an exchange account and a blackberry.net account. You just click email settings on the phone or go to a web page and do it from the computer.

Hope this helps

Yes it supports AIM and other instant messaging app, (yak-on, ramble, IM+, WebMessenger, Verichat) I dont' know how the email set up work with verizon, but on Tmobile it's a breeze. I would contact verizon for help about setting up your email, they should be able to help you out k. :D Goodluck! and Welcome to BBF

Well I found a free msn client but I don't like it as you have to click the click wheel to send your message

Just as a side note, Verizon's BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) site is https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw. You should also be able to setup your email account from the handheld (on Cingular it's called 'Personal Email Setup'). Just as any carriers BIS, it's email polls every 10-15 minutes, so if you tie in a corporate account without BES, it may take a few minutes to receive it. Gmail and Yahoo are a few of the email sites that use PUSH technology so it's almost instantaneous delivery.

AIM is something I've been having issues with, it may just be my APN settings, or something else. I won't even attempt to answer that, but from what I see, IM+ (USD$49.95 One-Time Fee). Yak-On is USD$19.95 with NO free trial available.

Best of luck!
