Password help on 7750!

I'm new to blackberries and I've tried search and still not exactly sure what to do. I bought a 7750 off ebay and when I got it I powered it up and it asked for a password. I put the password in wrong 10 times hoping this would wipe it and I could enter a new password. It didn't work.

Will verizon be able to reset it for me when I activate it with them over the air or will I have to reload the operating system to get rid of the password.
