My 8703e seems to get lost

I've had the 8703e with Sprint for two weeks now. Every so often I'll see that there is no light flashing on the device. I'll either turn the device off and back on or turn the wireless off and back on.
That seems to work, but messages are delayed until i figure out I need to do this.
Is this normal? I hope not.

Mine definitely freezes and then spits everything out at once. It is not so often that I want to throw the phone, but it's enough to make me wonder why technology is not a bit better in 2006.
