I haven't bought a BB yet. One thing I'm trying to figure out is how close it can come to replacing my Palm Zire 72s.

My Zire is superficially similar in terms of speed (Zire is 312MHz) and screen (Zire is 320x320). With one piece of freeware (TCPMP), a Zire can play virtually any video, at its original framerate, in its original format. How close can I get to this on a BB?

(Googling gets me stories about video *streaming* on the BB. I'm just talking about viewing my own short videos stored locally.) Thanks!

I think one of your limitations will be memory space..

Video playback is severly limited on the 8700. There is a video player from Sona but the clips have very poor quality and take a ton of time to download. You can't take any video clip you'd like from your computer and play it on the BB until the new 8100 Pearl.

The only Blackberry that can play videos is the 8100. But I have heard that you first have to convert the video to play on your 8100. Just do a search here to get more information. I haven't play videos on mine yet so I can not give you too much information.
