no, they are the same size as OEM extended battery. OEM extended battery is 1800 mah, Seidio one is 2400 mah, almost 33% more power than OEM extended battery while still maintaining the same size as OEM extended battery.

Just received mine today. +1 on fit and finish--looks good, fits good, A+ in that arena. I'm charging it as we speak, and I'll report tomorrow on battery life, as I'm planning to leave my bt headset connected all day while at work.... It makes the bb feel a little heftier, and actually fits in one hand a bit better now, for simple scrolling and reading at least.

I charged the bb overnight last night with the new battery. Options->Status confirmed a 100% charge in the morning. At work today (7:30am to 4pm) and then when I got home to now (5pm to 6pm) I have had my bt headset connected (Plantronics 640) and on. Sent/received about 50 emails today, made about 25-30 minutes of voice calls, and no web browsing. Battery is currently at 85%, no bars missing on display. :)

Day two: powered on for approx. 28 hours. Fairly heavy phone usage (half of which with BT headset) combined with heavy e-mail. No web, but occasional GoogleTalk.

Battery life is at 50%.

There's no way I would have come anywhere close to this with the OEM battery.

Additionally, while I was originally concerned about the increased thickness, I'm now finding it preferable to stock.

Edit: Also worth mentioning that the above has been almost entirely in EV-DO coverage areas.

I agree - the extra thickness seems to fit better in my hand and it feels more secure. I am also loving the new battery - I had the RIM extended battery and can tell a difference in battery life.

Day 5 - 55% this morning. would of charged twice by now. I am really impressed and I will definately only have to charge once a week if that.

I do the regular 10-20 text a day 10 or so emails and half and hour or so of talking. Mind you on the weekends it is used more, I do not see myself using 50% in the next few days. I dont even have the Auto on/off feature setup so this runs all the time. 133% more seems to be an under statement. Awesome product and this is my first product from seidio.

My father has the Pearl and he uses the battery in a day, I am trying to get him to buy this to see how it does under a heavy usage.
Seidio how about sending a few things our way for the sales pitch we are giving? :)

Whithout searching, what is the mAh rating of the standard battery in the 8703e? I charge mine every night wether it needs it or not - often times it's still at 80% after a days use. Since I'm in a fringe area, I though that was pretty impressive in itself, since I swapped in my MotoQ (whose life with the extended battery would be less than 1 day) for the 8703e.

Nevermind - the standard battery for the 8703e is 1000 mAh.

vbaskar,
I have the forte case that zips up, and has the plastic covering over the screen and keyboard for the 8700 series BB (I have a 8700g), not sure what what the name of that case is. With the standard battery, it is a good fit. With the extended battery, it's a snug fit (It bulges the case just a tad, but feels very full in your hands). Hope this helps some!

Our rubberized case is supe slim (1.0 mm to 1.2 mm). it can not support the clip in the back. If we want to support clip, then we need to add the thickness to more than 2.0 mm which is not our design.

Leather case mfrs use additional thickness of material encircling the Rivet to give it additional strength and supprt. Unless you've already built the mold for these cases, an allowance for additional material could be applied locally where the Rivet would be installed. The rivet would have to be installed at the time you pour your mold, I believe. Just a thought.

We tested our extended batteries with RIM wall charger and USB cable. It did not have any problems.

For those who received Seidio 2400 mah extended battery, can you provide some feedbacks ?

If reading the forum and still seeing problems with full charging not being able to be acheived has not prompted your company to look into this problem honestly what will?

Simply stating you dont see any problems wont cut it. How about some info on what may be causing the problem. It does not make me want to upgrade when it will only charge to 80 or 90 %. Is it all vendors batteries or limited to only some?
Facts and suggestions would be nice.

Marketing political correctness not needed.(n) You have a good rep with the BB folks, dont blow it.

Pizzicar was speaking about the fact that his RIM extended battery would not charge properly. We cannot begin to speculate on problems RIM is having with either their phone or battery. We simply tested our battery and didn't have the same problem.

It does not make me want to upgrade when it will only charge to 80 or 90 %.

I haven't seen anyone talk about our battery only charging to 80 or 90%. I did see a post from martin_j001 that stated he used his phone all day and still had 85% after charging to 100%.

Is it all vendors batteries or limited to only some?

I can't speculate on other vendors batteries because I don't know of anyone else producing this besides RIM.

Facts and suggestions would be nice.

The fact is that we're not seeing the same problems with our battery. If you're having a problem with your OEM extended battery I would suggest contacting RIM. If you have a problem with our battery please contact us.

Marketing political correctness not needed.(n) You have a good rep with the BB folks, dont blow it.

I'm really not sure where this came from...we've been nothing but honest and upfront about our battery and have even been backed up by the customers on this forum. If you're upset about the fact that we don't fix phone problems I apologize. We manufacture accessories that work with phones, not the phones themselves.

Just ordered my Seidio Battery and Seidio Spring Clip Holster for my 8700g with the new holster it has the spring clip at the top so that you dont have to keep checking if your phone is going to fall out of the oem holster. I find myself doing that alot. I'll keep you posted whether the new holder was a great or a bad buy once I get it.

This is NOT just a problem with Seidio's batteries but rather a problem in the OS, the hardware, or the charger (I'm not even sure myself!) I've personally had this issue with numerous batteries in my 7100t and read about numerous problems on these forums long before Seidio's batteries even came out. It's not specific to the 7100, the 8700, or one manufacturer of batteries. You have no proof that this problem is isolated to his batteries and therefore have no right to publicly flame him, or his product, over it.

Thanks,
John

I've had my battery for three days now. Haven't recharged it once and I'm still over 50%. Fit and finish of the new door is top notch. Got the new holster too. I REALLY like the top clip. There's a chic fuzzy, crushed velvet on the inside of the holster that eliminates any "plasticy" snap noise when the phone clips in. I think it holds much, much better than the crap $29 holster from Cingular that's now broken on me three times.

Somebody mentioned it earlier but the 8700 now actually feels much better in your hand when you type. I think the weight of the new battery and the shape of the door just sit in your hand better.

In my use of this battery so far (about two weeks or so I think), I have not seen any issues at all with it--it charges fully to 100%, and I plug it in every third day at this point, it runs down to about 35-40% by the end of the third full day (and I'm quite sure I could go for a fourth day too).

As for what I as a consumer expect from Seidio before purchasing is the answer they provided earlier. What more can they do other than test their own batteries to see if they can replicate the issue? If they can't, I don't expect them to start troubleshooting other manufacturers' products to find an answer....

 I've had my 2400mAh battery for a couple of weeks now. By the way I have the Sprint 8703e. All I can say is that this battery is EXCELLENT (y) . I can go 3 days before I have to recharge, and I use all of this phones abilities. From daily telenav(navigation), to emailing(avg. 30 in/out per day), to web surfing, to actual phone usage(avg. 1-2hrs per day).

Honestly, when I purchased it, I thought it was going to "stick out" more than it did. Also, when I am using the extended battery, the bb feels more secure in my hand. I really like the added weight. Now Seido you guys need to come out with a rubber skin to fit the new size of the bb. I'll be one of the first to purchase.

The battery is great. Seidio you guys have truely outdid yourself on this one.

I received my extended batter and battery cover a couple weeks ago. It works great, recharges to 100% whether using the laptop or BB Battery charger. The new battery cover fits better than the orignal sent with the BB or the one that came with the earlier extended battery. I'm very happy with this new battery and case, recommending to everyone at work. Nice job!

Ok how to say this. I have to fall on my sword. I asked one of my people to send me the “Seidio” battery. Having been told the battery was from Seidio because I had asked them to buy from that company strictly because of the statements made on the forum favoring them. Well after receiving the battery, I discovered the battery was NOT from Seidio, it was from another company. When I called that company I was given the same run around all my folks received. Ok so now I found out they were accurate in the story they told me about the problems with charging and attempt to get it resolved. I also ran into problems with an attempt to return the battery. Guess what, they would get back to me with shipping information. After chewing out a few people and telling them to “correct “the problem on their own and at their own cost, I think this will not happen again.

Seidio, My sincere apologies for the impression I made here. If anyone asks what company I would recommend, I will certainly say yours. My initial gut feeling was there was a disconnect when I started to receive the information and complaints. Never thinking they used another company specifically after I told then to go to yours was something I never suspected until I received the battery.

For everyone who does have problems, dump the battery you do have and buy one from Seidio,

I bought both the battery and the holster. The USB charging stand came today.

Battery
I had the RIM extended battery. This one compares very favorably and seems to about double my battery life. Under the older RIM extended battery I'd get about 2 to 3 days. Under the Seidio I am getting 4 to 6 days. I am a moderate to heavy user of email and probably 60 minutes of phone each day.

Holster
I'd read a few reviews about scratching caused by this holster. I don't see any evidence whatsoever. The entire face of the holster is covered in felt. The BB sits securely clipped in place.

USB Charging Stand
This stand came today. I was pleasantly surprised that it holds my 8700C plus extended battery quite firmly. I think I had read someone saying that their device flopped around in it. I have zero problems with mine and I sense an order for another for my office is about to be placed.

All three of these are very handy additions and I recommend them to anyone.

Works nice. Goes nearly 2 days before battery meter lower one notch from full charge. Falls faster from there, but can still get 5 full days. Critically low on 5th day.

I've had the extended battery for about 2 1/2 weeks now. I can comfortably go a full week between charges now under moderate use. It's primary use is for email (Lotus Notes via BES, constantly syncs both email and calendar wirelessly)...and I mean a lot of email reading and composing. It gets light phone usage, 3-4 hours per week on average. The battery charges to 100% via the travel charger and USB cable, and I couldn't be happier with the performance of the battery. Now that I've gotten used to it, I also agree with some others that have said that it seems easier to hold in your hand with this battery door shape than with the stock battery door.

My biggest complaint would be with the color of the Seidio extended battery door...it's noticeably darker than the rest of my 8700g. The shape (i.e. fit and finish) is pretty good...no significant problemss with that. It's a bit looser fit than the original door, but I'm confident that it's not going anywhere.

I also ordered the holster, just got it a few days ago. Very nicely designed. I spent a few minutes filing down some sharp edges just to keep from scratching the BB. I also have the bestskinsever clear skin on the entire unit, and it makes the fit slightly tighter and the stickiness of the skin causes it to not slide in and out of the holster quite as easily as I'm sure it otherwise would. If anyone is interested, you can order the uncut sheet stock (it's something like 4.6? x 9" IIRC) of skin from bestskinsever, and then cut a piece out of that sheet to cover your new Seidio battery door. I just made a template out of copy paper, and kept whittling on it until I had what I wanted. Of course, notches were required in 6 different areas of the template (extermal speaker, battery door thumb release, and then each of the four diagonals on the corners that connect the raised plateau of the door to the part of the door that's in the same plane as the back of the BB. If you don't cut those last 4 notches for relief, then you'll get a bad wrinkle at each of those 4 diagonals.

A little more on the holster...as I said, I think it's well made. But, I wish someone would design a holster that made it where the clip was higher than the entire holster, and didn't have a 1/2" long lever (the one you squeeze to open the clip) sticking out above the case. It would be a holster like Seidio's with a fixed clip like the Fortte has, with the clip being mounted very high on the holster. That way, nothing would be above the belt line to poke me in the side when I sit down...that irritates the crap out of me, especially when I'm wearing an untucked shirt and anything above the belt line hits my bare skin when I sit down. Like most people, I could stand to shed a few (literally, maybe 10) pounds, but I'm far from obese. I can't be the only one that loves the functionality of the plastic holster, but finds the uncomfortable while sitting, can I? Anyone? Anyone?

Just received my battery from last week. I hardly use phone that much during the day. My only problem is, when i charge my battery it will go 100%. Once i pull charger out it drops to 95%. No heavy use with the phone, and on the first day it will drop down to 50%. By the second day the phone would die. Not to impress.

That sounds more like either a faulty battery cell or the little board inside the battery is flawed. You should contact Seidio about getting a replacement.

I've had mine about 3 weeks now. My 8700 is data-only and have multiple on-going connections being made by apps. I'm getting up to 5 days, depending on my volume of email.

Look I upgaded from a AllTel 7250 to Alltel 8703e.. *IF* I use the old 7250 wall charger, it will not charge the 8703e beyond 95%.. The factory 8703e wall charger shows it will charge to 100%.. Just notice it stll takes a little longer, as the battery is MUCH bigger.. so common sense says if you recharge the OEM battery in 4 hours, it will take a little more than 4 hours to charge the bigger battery.

Ok-i've had the battery for about 2mos now on my bb 8700g with the new Cingular OS. Only programs I have running is bbweather, and jivetalk-newest version .23 with the batery save mode when idle. Bluetooth is off, same amount of emails I get-which is around 20-30 a day, about 20 answered calls-not lasting more than 5-10mins each.
I've done this the past week or so-I charge the battery until the red lightning disappears-then after 10-15mins-battery goes down to 95%:-o
And the past 3 days in a row-the battery goes down to 50% after 9hours of taking off the charger.
Is it normal that this would go down this fast the same day-given the fact the amount of calls, emails and programs I have running? Its like the same performance of the stock slim battery before I upgraded.
I dunno if its me or if im going cuckoo:razz:
